On January 16–17, 2026, medical physics residents from across the region gathered at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus for the latest stop in the POWV Medical Physics Residency Rotation Initiative. Hosted by Bingqi Guo and Alexander Antolak, the two-day rotation focused on special procedures that most residents rarely see in a single program: radiopharmaceutical therapy dosimetry, intraoperative and brachytherapy techniques, hyperthermia, and advanced MIM scripting.

Highlights
- Radiopharmaceutical dosimetry – an overview of clinical RPT dosimetry with Frank DiFilippo (Nuclear Medicine), followed by a hands-on MIM dosimetry workflow led by Adam Neff (MIM Software) that residents practiced on their own laptops.
- TheraSphere and radiation safety – Sripriya Rayadurgam walked through the Y-90 microsphere procedure and the practical radiation-safety controls around it.
- GammaTile and intraoperative radiation therapy – Matt Kolar covered GammaTile brachytherapy and IORT, including time in the OR suite to see the equipment and workflow first-hand.
- Hyperthermia – a live demonstration of the hyperthermia system with Peng Qi.
- MIM scripting for special procedures – Saturday’s session with Bingqi Guo applied MIM workflows to VMAT-TBI, spatially fractionated radiation therapy, and cardiac radioablation.

The day wrapped up with a group dinner, giving residents and faculty from Cleveland Clinic, UH, UPMC, and AHN a chance to connect outside the clinic.

Many thanks to the Cleveland Clinic physics team and the POWV rotation subcommittee for organizing another outstanding rotation. Institutions interested in hosting, or residents wishing to participate, are encouraged to contact the POWV rotation subcommittee.
